Sonic Skillz is an artist and producer who is always ready to defy expectations and challenge aesthetics with his music, not following mainstream trends but setting his own and carving his own artistic path. His most recent studio release, a collaboration with Milogic titled "Last Time," is a really good example of this. This studio work is very nuanced and detailed, with a fantastic approach to production that uncovers Sonic Skillz’s talent and ability to combine so many different styles under one roof. Milogic really killed it with his lead vocals, adding a more personal vibe to the composition and really allowing the music to acquire a more intimate dimension due to the honesty of the lyrics.
The production of this track is very interesting because it has a lot of variety when it comes to the instrumental elements of the track. The atmospheric synth sound layers are really fantastic, and the drum beats have an organic vibe that is not often found on modern hip-hop releases. Ultimately, Sonic Skillz lives up to his name, showcasing a great ability to use his skills to create sounds that are pretty much unlike anything else on the scene today. This amazing song kicks off with a lush introduction, and it really builds up the vibe up Milogic's vocals hit, adding more energy and definition to the mix. The sound is massive and larger-than-life, in line with some of the highest production standards in the modern hip-hop genre, but also going a little beyond due to the fact that Sonic Skillz has incorporated some exciting new ideas into "Last Time," which stands out as one of his most musically significant accomplishments to date.
lyrics
Line in the sand, chalk around the body
Save the theatrics, I know you ain’t sorry
I would have taken a bullet that's meant for you
Especially the way my whole family adored you
Identical bond that's unseperable
How did it get to this level of unbearable?
Hard to see red flags through rose-colored glasses
Snapped them in half and it's clearer as time passes
Asking my wife about her friend in yoga classes
The last thing I thought that would happen when sharing laughs, man
She comes home, beelines to the shower
To wash off cologne, her moans had took an hour
So clever, y’all played it so clever
Future's bleak, guess he’d make it more better
Real talk, the timing was immaculate
You said his name in our bed and thought I wasn't catching it
You go your way and I go mine
This will be the last time
Felt your shame and I know mine
This will be the last time
Hurts when respect is earned and withdrawn
Love in my heart that's broke, it's all gone
Don't this cross the line, you'll find it dead wrong
This will be the last time
Drinks and smokes, grilled food and bad jokes
Played together, talked about being old folks
Planning vacations, furthering educations
But not being a subject of murder investigations
What you pleading for when I'm bleeding more?
Shattered like the dropped light bulbs on the kitchen floor
She put the blame on me and I accepted
Only just to keep my cool and calm collected
Long enough to kiss my kids and wipe tears
Walked out the door to my car, they all feared
I was gonna do something drastic, I wasn’t past it
Nice guys finishing last, I kept it classic
You tried to follow me out, you caught that combo
Recognize the line in the sand, don’t try to cross, though
Drove off fast, pressed too hard on the gas
White chalk around my body, this was the last
You go your way and I go mine
This will be the last time
Felt your shame and I know mine
This will be the last time
Hurts when respect is earned and withdrawn
Love in my heart that's broke, it's all gone
Don't this cross the line, you'll find it dead wrong
This will be the last time

Many people tend to start their biographies by talking about who they are. I think I’d rather talk about who I’m not: I’m
not a singer, I’m not a rapper, and I don’t like being referred to as a producer (at least not in the context that the hip-hop community uses it). I’m not the next [insert name here], and I am NOT a beatmaker....more
Hands-down, one of my favorite arrangement albums. The Ragnarok soundtrack is incredible, and my friends Joshua Morse and Anthony Lofton most certainly did it justice. Sonic Skillz
My friend Mega Ran released one of my favorite albums of 2015 with "RNDM." With this album, he's been able to blend nerdcore elements and more accessible hiphop better than any emcee I've heard yet. Sonic Skillz
