This November 2023, Florida-based producer and instrumental artist Sonic Skillz is set to drop his powerful new hip-hop and R&B single, 'For Too Long.'
Produced by Sonic Skillz, featuring Mr. J1S, Tim Moyo, and Julisa Wilson, the cinematic new single 'For Too Long' is an anthem for doers and dreamers. The song’s positive, uplifting message champions self-love and being yourself, even when others try to bring you down.
Releasing under the indie record label Urbanizm Music, which was founded by Sonic Skillz, 'For Too Long' features vocal performances from artists across the globe: Mr. J1S (first verse), a Long Island-based artist who's collaborated with indie hip-hop icons like Mega Ran and Skyzoo; Tim Moyo (second verse), a UK-based singer-songwriter with over seven million Spotify plays; and Julisa Wilson (third verse), an emcee whose music has been featured on several TV shows, including Marvel’s "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law."
Sonic Skillz previously went viral for 'Won’t Back Down,' his fiercely moving tribute song to wrestling star and actress Sasha Banks. Now he’s back with another inspiring message for his fans - one about carrying on, even in the face of adversity. 'For Too Long' by Sonic Skillz will be available on all platforms from November 2023.
lyrics
Beaming lights across the skies to be remembered
Dreamless nights, eyes so wide they won't surrender
This flame won't leave my soul on ice
Light the way and find yourself
Fearless sight, answer all 'til there's no wonder
Steer your life through the storm, answer the thunder
This flame won't leave my soul on ice
Rise beyond where angels fell
When the world, it shows you
That it don't owe you
Don't let that hold you down
For too long
Everything you go through
Let it kill the old you
No, they can't hold you down
For too long
Feel the burn when you stand up
To the things that get tough
Know the pain can be too much
But the life that you want
Is just around the corner
I can hear that caller
Calling your name (oh)
High on your purpose
Sky’s not the limit
Lies that they tell you to be kind
To be cruel
Every time that voice deep inside you says to jump, be ready
Because life’s not gon' wait for you to be up, stay ready
When the world, it shows you
That it don't owe you
Don't let that hold you down
For too long
Everything you go through
Let it kill the old you
No, they can't hold you down
For too long
Know that nobody can ever hold you down
Fall a few times but get up from the ground
Faith is the reason I always stick around
Cuz when no one's around
It's always me that's found
So I gotta give my best in everything I do
No more waiting, I been waiting, time to push through
So when that door closes, open up and say move
You're here for a reason, there's still so much to do
When you learn, know you never lose
So when life wakes you up, don't put your heart on snooze
You gotta make the best and put the passion in
Don't let time slip away, don't let your dreams end
The road will get tough, and that you gotta know
Never dim your light, it's you thats gotta glow
It's you thats gotta show what you’re made of
Cuz time will really show you what you’re made of!
When the world, it shows you
That it don't owe you
Don't let that hold you down
For too long
Everything you go through
Let it kill the old you
No, they can't hold you down
For too long
For too long
For too long...

Many people tend to start their biographies by talking about who they are. I think I’d rather talk about who I’m not: I’m
not a singer, I’m not a rapper, and I don’t like being referred to as a producer (at least not in the context that the hip-hop community uses it). I’m not the next [insert name here], and I am NOT a beatmaker....more
Hands-down, one of my favorite arrangement albums. The Ragnarok soundtrack is incredible, and my friends Joshua Morse and Anthony Lofton most certainly did it justice. Sonic Skillz
My friend Mega Ran released one of my favorite albums of 2015 with "RNDM." With this album, he's been able to blend nerdcore elements and more accessible hiphop better than any emcee I've heard yet. Sonic Skillz
